About our company ... and how we got here
Career Workshop is an innovative information services
company, specialising in research-based products and
services to support career management and transition. Our
products and services are aimed at anyone who is looking for a new
job or change of direction, and also the people who support that
process, such as career consultants and HR professionals.
The business was originally set up in 2004 as an offline company providing research, information, training and other support services relating to job-seeking and career change. In those early days all our work was commissioned as one-offs.
However, in the course of our work, we were building up a huge knowledge base, and coupled with our expert searching skills, it seemed like a logical step to turn the model around and package our knowledge and research ready for market. And so the concept of the Career Workshop website emerged .... a place where people could go to buy up-to-date and top-quality research, for themselves or their clients, at a reasonable price.
Behind the website - and developed in parallel with it - is our own in-house database. This informs all our work. It contains details of thousands of recruiters, companies, organisations, job vacancy sources, publications, resources, and websites. Every entry is indexed according to our own classification scheme, and we make sure that every entry is checked at least once every six months (usually more often) for accuracy and continued relevance. And of course, we are also adding to the database continually as we find new and appropriate resources.
All our other services remain available offline, and details can be found on the website. We plan to investigate whether any of them would also work well on the web. As an innovative company, we won't be standing still, and we will be making sure that we continue to deliver the best research possible for our market.
